Re-Purposing: What to do with Stampin' Up!'s Embellishment Containers

Today, I thought I would give you some ideas on what you can do with Stampin' Up!'s little round embellishment containers.  I am all about re-purposing items and have found a few ways to use these that I thought I would share with you.  Have any ideas of your own?  Please share them with me!

I Just Love a Yo Yo Spinner Card!

I decided at a recent workshop that I wanted to teach them how to make these cute Yo Yo spinner cards.  Now I just had to find the perfect thing to spin.  Deb Valder made a tutorial on this using the From The Herd stamp set which I CASE'D for a group but this time I wanted something different.  The dog chasing it's tail from the Giggle Greetings set was just perfect!  I am making a variation of this card for a swap for Stampin' Up!'s convention this week so by the time you see this, 35 others will have one in their hands!
I have modified my spinners from the way that Deb Valder put hers together and I will put out a video on that soon.

Monochromatic Cards....

I am not one for monochromatic cards too much - I love color but I came across a card which inspired this one on Splitcoaststampers.  It was fun teaching everyone how to do the paper piercing around a series of joined circles.

Always one to finish the inside of my card, here it is!

Finally, what is today?  If you are reading this at 9:00 am as it is first posting, I should be checking into my hotel about now for Stampin' Up! Convention!  Woo Hoo!

Do You Have A Summer Wedding to Attend?

Here's a great card for an upcoming wedding.  I saw a treat bag made by Tootsy on Splitcoaststampers  and love it.  I decided to make it into a card as well as a treat bag.  Here's how it turned out.

I absolutely loved the Artisan Embellishment kit in the Occasions catalog but it went away too quick.  Did you get one too?  Since you only got two of the beautiful rose stencils, I didn't want to use them up.  I found a video from Deb Valder where she clear embossed both sides of one of them and used it as a stencil with sponging.  From there, I got this idea - I took the stencil and put black paper behind it and scanned it into my computer.  From there, I took it into Photoshop, reversed the colors and then used the brush tool to widen a couple of the areas that were super thin.  I then saved the file as a .png file and converted it to an .svg file.  From there, I imported it into an .fcm file which my Scan N Cut uses and cut it out using the e-cutter.  Now I can have as many of these as I want - and in any color!
Here is the inside of the card.  Next you will see a surprise to this card .....
It's a gift card holder too!  The patterned paper was cut using the treat bag die and then I trimmed off the serrated top.  Lots of embellishment to this card including the cute bow using the Bow Builder punch.  Here's a video on making these bows, with some helpful hints as well as a bunch of other bows you can make - thanks to Brenda Quintana.

Unexpected Results...

Have you ever tried a technique that you found online - perhaps even on my blog - and ended up with something a little off from what the technique originally was supposed to look like?  This here is an example of that.  The original technique has you running Basic Black cardstock through the Big Shot using the Lovely Lace embossing folder, lightly running Versamark ink over the raised portions and embossing using Whisper White embossing powder.  You were to then color the white embossing powder using alcohol markers.  Well, that is what I did, except that the Versamark ink hit in some of the unraised portions and the embossing powder didn't release from other areas as well so I ended up heat setting it anyway.  I colored the raised images and the background area stayed a spray of white embossing powder.  I actually think it turned out pretty cool!  It was a hit at class!  We also colored the rhinestones using the Blendabilities.
Here on the inside, we used the Lovely Lace embossing folder and then used a sponge and ink to color the raised portions.  The centers were then colored using the Blendabilities.
