Stampin' Up!'s Field Flowers & New Embossing Folder...

We made this card at a recent workshop and was a sneak peek at the new Modern Mosaic embossing folder.  This folder works awesome for the folder inking technique.  You simply ink one side of your embossing folder, place the piece of paper on the other side so that when you close it, you do not risk smearing the ink and then run it through the Big Shot.  Out comes a beautifully colored and embossed piece.  With a blender pen and some ink, you can fill in any areas that did not ink completely.  However, for this card, I wanted some of the areas to not be perfect.  I then used a Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds in the colored areas only.  The flowers were then stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant.
Here is the inside of the card.  The sentiments come from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.

Here's what you will need to duplicate this card:
Stamps:       Field Flowers; Thoughts & Prayers
Inks:          Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive
Paper:      Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
Other:        Modern Mosaic embossing folder, Elegant Eggplant scalloped ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds

Stampin' Up!'s Embellished Events...

Here is a card we made at a recent workshop.  I like the monochromatic look with just a splash of color.  The patterned paper is a retired paper from the Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP but with the new Positively Chevron background stamp, you could create this look easily.  The splash of yellow is actually made with Daffodil Delight seam binding ribbon adhered to a piece of Basic Black.  It was then attached to the DSP at an angle and then trimmed on the sides.

Here's what you will need to duplicate this card:
Stamps:       Embellished Events; Bring on the Cake
Inks:           Black StazOn
Paper:       Whisper White, Basic Black, Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP
Other:       Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon, Rhinestones

Stampin' Up!'s By the Tide & By the Seashore...

I am such an ocean lover and these two stamp sets are a few of my very favorites.  Needless to say, I was thrilled when both of them made it into the new catalog.  I can't imagine retiring them.  This card was CASE'd from an artist on Splitcoaststampers.  I just loved it and had to make it at a workshop.
Here's the inside of the card.  Since I started finishing off the inside of the card as well as the outside, now they just seem so blah if I don't!

Here's what you will need to duplicate this card:
Stamps:       By the Tide; By the Seashore; Itty Bitty Banners

Stampin' Up!'s World Treasures....

I love this stamp set.  The peacock is just so cool.  We made this Diamond Fold card at a recent workshop.  You can find the instructions on how to make a Diamond Fold card in the Specialty Cards section of my blog.

Here is the inside of the card.  We used the International Bazaar DSP which coordinates with the World Treasures stamp set.  The peacock was stamped with Black StazOn and then colored with markers.

I had a large group at the workshop so I had to use two different patterns for the DSP.  Here's the other one that was used.  Also, I colored in the peacock a lot more in this sample.  Gives it a different look.

Here's what you will need to duplicate this card:
Stamps:       World Treasures
Inks:            Black StazOn; Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango markers
Paper:        First card:  Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, International Bazaar DSP
Second card:  Lucky Limeade, Early Espresso, Whisper White, International Bazaar DSP
Other:        Glitter Brads, Scallop Squares Duo Die, Ribbon, Simply Scored & Diagonal Plate

Stampin' Up!'s Embellished Events....

Here is a card that we made at a recent workshop.  Have you tried out the new photopolymer stamps from Stampin' Up!?  We are currently offering two choices in this type of stamp.  The sentiment above comes from the Bombs Away stamp set which has some great sentiments for birthdays.  The cake was stamped with Riding Hood Red, Lucky Limeade, Basic Gray and Island Indigo markers on Whisper White cardstock.  The cardstock was then covered with the multipurpose adhesive sheet and then covered in glitter..

The window was made by using the 1 1/4" square punch.  I punched out four squares from some post it notes making sure that the adhesive on the back was part of the square.  I then laid these out onto the Basic Gray cardstock in the pattern for the window and then punched them out.  This way you know exactly where you are punching!

Here is the inside of the card.

Here's what you will need to duplicate this card:
Stamps:       Embellished Events, Bombs Away, Beautiful Birthday
Inks:           Island Indigo, Riding Hood Red, Lucky Limeade, Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight
Paper:        Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Basic Gray, Riding Hood Red, Twitterpated DSP
Other:        Multipurpose Adhesive sheets, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, 1 1/4" square punch,
                   Scallop Border punch, Jewels

Spring Flowers!!!

Here's a card from a recent workshop.  The hostess had seen another flower card like this that I had done quite a while ago and wanted one for her workshop.  Here's my updated version.

To make the flower pot, take a piece of cardstock that measures 8 3/4" x 3 1/2".  Score at 3 1/2" and 7".  Fold backward at the 3 1/2" score line and fold forward at the 7" score line.  Using the Scallop Border Punch, create a border along the 1 3/4" section.

Line up your cutter so the top of the pot is at the cut line and the bottom of the pot is 1/2" over the cut line.  This will give you the angle of the pot.  Repeat on the other side.  Wrap the top of the pot using a ribbon.  This is what holds the pot closed and will hold the card.

Here's how the card pulls out.  Make sure that your flowers are placed low enough and not to wide that the entire card will not fit in an envelope.  Mine ended up where the leaf in the top left corner is actually too high but can be bent over just enough to allow it to fit.  These flowers are a great way to use up retired brads which is what we did here.  Make sure to place the flowers through just the white paper and add the back matting after you have set the brads.  That way, your brad tails won't show!

Here's what you will need to duplicate this card:
Stamps:       None!  You can use one for a sentiment
Inks:           Again, none!
Paper:        Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Garden Green
                    Summer Smooches DSP
Other:        Rich Razzleberry Stitched ribbon, Fun Flowers Bigz Die, Scallop Border
Punchy, Secret Garden Framelit (leaves) and various retired brads

Technique Tuesday - Chalkboard Technique...

Have you missed Technique Tuesday?  I'll bet!  Well, I am back for the next few weeks for some to share with you.  Let's get started...
Have you seen cards recently made with this technique but not sure how it is done?  It is a quick and simple technique but really effective.  Here's what you will need:
  •  Basic Black Cardstock
  • Stamp set of your choice (I used Amazing Family)
  • White embossing powder
  • White Craft ink
  • Sponge
  • Signo Gel Pen
  • Heat Gun & Embossing Buddy

After brushing your Basic Black cardstock with the embossing buddy, stamp your image in White Craft ink and emboss with White embossing powder as shown below.

Next, take a sponge and pick up some of the White Craft ink.  In a circular motion, remove most of the ink from the sponge by rubbing it onto your grid paper as shown.
Now that you just have a light amount of ink on the sponge, in a circular motion, lightly brush on the color around the embossed areas.  Imagine that it is a chalkboard so the center areas would be lighter than the outside areas where you wouldn't have as much use.
Here's the card with the coloring all done.
Next, I decorated the outside with some doodling.  I always begin by putting in my dots so I know where to start and stop the squigly lines.

Here's the card all done.  Look for an upcoming Technique Tuesday to learn how to make the flower.

Here's what you will need to duplicate this card:
Stamps:       Amazing Friend
Inks:           White Craft; Summer Starfruit (flower)
Paper:        Basic Black; Summer Starfruit; Pacific Point; International Bazaar DSP
Other:        Sponge, White Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Creped Filter Paper, Floral Frames
                   Framelits, Signo Gel Pen

Stampin' Up!'S Simply Scored Borders Plate Class...

This is my favorite card from the Borders Plate class and was CASE'd from Splitcoaststampers.  In this card, scored on Pool Party Core'dinations paper using the waves on the Borders Plate.  We then sanded them so they really stood out.  The Whisper White cardstock was embossed with the Cloudy Day embossing folder and then stamped with the "spouting alphabet" from the Oh Whale! stamp set.  The whales were stamped in Midnight Muse using the same set and then cut out using the Happy Whale Clearlit Die.  The fish and anchor were cut from the same die.  Finally we stamped the sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners and cut with the accompanying framelit.
Here's the cute whale on the inside.  I am going to miss this set.  It is such a great set for little boys!

Here's what you will need to duplicate this card:
Stamps:       Oh Whale, Itty Bitty Banners
Inks:           Pool Party, Midnight Muse
Paper:       Whisper White, Pool Party, Midnight Muse, Pool Party Core'dinations
Other:        Cloudy Day embossing folder, Happy Whale Clearlit die, Bitty Banners framelits,
                   Borders Plate, Sanding block
